Our Aspirations

WHAT WE DREAM

As a community, we dream of providing these paths for women suffering and who has suffered domestic abuse
PATH TO INFORMED ACTION
Women often say I do not have a problem with abuse; I have a problem with anger management. OR He is not hitting me; this is not abuse.
We aim to educate women on the different types of abuses and why they are harmful or even more harmful than physical abuse. We want women to understand the warning signs of abuse so they can avoid going into or even marrying into an abusive relationship.
We look at a woman's journey and think through the kind of resources and information they will need so they can be empowered to make an informed decision.
We also look towards each survivor to help us educate other women to avoid years of abuse and leave an abusive partner safely.
We are building a comprehensive directory of organisations, shelters, and informative articles that will help guide women through being free from abuse.

PATH TO INDEPENDENCE
There are so many reasons why a woman stays in an abusive relationship. One of the biggest reasons is their financial dependence on their abuser. The mothers worry about feeding and schooling, and providing for their children.
Our vision is to partner with government offices, private companies, and individuals who provide livelihood training. We envision training that will provide the skills and knowledge for our survivors to set up small home-based businesses that will allow them to earn and take care of their children.

PATH TO HEALING
Experiencing abuse creates an invisible scar that is more difficult to heal than the physical one. Once a woman leaves an abusive home, we expect her and her children to move on. There is no moving on from trauma when the trauma is in your heart and soul.
We aim to build a community of survivors and experts who can help our survivors heal through different forms of therapy.
As we begin our journey, our primary focus is on collating and providing information that we believe is useful for women as they navigate through recognizing abuse and deciding whether to stay or to leave. If the decision is to leave, how do they do so safely, and where do they go for help?
